Get Involved
There are many organizations that do environmental and social justice work and have global campaigns, but because the Sierra Club Prairie is local, we have the same concerns as you.
There are two sources of power in the political process: money and people. Since the average person or organization cannot match the financial resources of today's multi-national corporations, the Sierra Club Prairie garners its power through recruiting members, generous donations, and training and mobilizing people from across the prairies; people like you!
The Sierra Club Prairie supports and works towards having policies implemented at the governmental level that are in the best interest of our environment and the health of our communities, policies which affect you now, and which will affect future generations.
Our power is derived from our ability to educate and engage the public to support these policies and exert influence over decision-makers. What we have seen in the last few years is a growing concern over corporate power and influence when it comes to governmental policies.
We support healthy communities, bountiful wild lands, and a sustainable and just future, and we believe you do too.

Become A Donor
As an organization we are unique in that the Sierra Club of Canada Family includes two legally separate organizations, allowing us to work on both charitable and non-charitable activities. The Sierra Club of Canada Foundation, the charitable partner, is able to grant tax-deductible receipts for donations; these donations are used to fund projects that fall within the boundaries of charitable work set by government regulations. The Sierra Club of Canada, the non-charitable partner, is not able to grant tax-deductible receipts but because donations are not charitable, there are fewer restriction placed upon them. Non-charitable donations can be used to fund direct lobbying of decision makers.
You can make a non-charitable donation to the Prairie Chapter or any of our groups by mailing us a cheque payable to the Sierra Club of Canada Prairie Chapter or filling out our online form. By specifying that you want your donation to go to the Prairie Chapter you are ensuring that your funds remain in the prairie region.
You can donate to the Sierra Club of Canada Foundation, a registered charitable organization, and support Sierra Club of Canada work such as research and education. You will receive a tax receipt for these donations. To donate, you can fill out an on-line form, call 1-888-810-4204 or email The Sierra Club of Canada Foundation. If you'd like your donation to go to charitable activities in the Prairie Region, be sure to direct your donation to the Prairie Chapter! SCC Foundation donations are processed by CanadaHelps.org.
